Who Are We

Picture

History

The South Notts country was hunted as far back as 1677 by the Earl of Lincoln. In 1775 it was hunted by John Musters, the great-grandfather of John Chaworth-Musters, and in 1860 Mr. John Chaworth-Musters re-established the hunt.

Area and Country

The country lies in Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire.
Some of the best jumping country is in the Belper area, where the stone walls account for many enjoyable days. The Nottingham side covers areas north and south of the River Trent and includes arable farmland, grass and forestry areas. The hunt relies on the generosity of the farmers over whose land they are permitted to ride and permission has to be obtained from all.

Days Hunting

Hunting days are Mondays and Thursdays on the Nottingham side and Thursdays on the Derbyshire side. Visitors, including children, are always welcome.

The Kennels

The Kennels are situated at Epperstone in Nottinghamshire where some 25 couple of hounds are  kept.
